Skills & tools
Teach an agent how to do a job and give it safe ways to take action.A skill is a reusable guide that teaches an agent how to do something. It can describe the steps to follow, what a good result looks like, and mistakes to avoid.
A tool lets an agent take an action. A tool might search the web, read a file, create an image, or add an item to another service.
For example, a “write a weekly update” skill could explain the format to use, while tools let the agent read project notes and save the finished update.
Finding the right tool
Section titled “Finding the right tool”You do not need to tell an agent which tool to use. It can search the tools available to it, understand what they do, and choose one that fits your request.
This includes Dexto’s built-in tools and tools from services you have connected. An agent cannot access an account you have not connected, and some actions may ask for your approval.
Skills Library
Section titled “Skills Library”The Skills Library lets you browse the skills available to your agents and see what each one teaches.
Some tools use integrations to connect to other services.
