Sessions & runs

Understand the difference between a conversation and the work done inside it.

A session is a conversation with an agent. It keeps your messages and results together, so you can leave and come back later.

A run is the work an agent starts after you send it a task. Sending a new task or asking the agent to continue can start a new run inside the same session.

For example, “plan my launch” could begin one run. “Now turn that plan into a checklist” could begin another run in the same conversation.

Your sessions stay in the Dexto dashboard so you can return to them later.

The Chat app

The Chat app is where you work with a session. It keeps your conversation, the agent’s progress, and the results of each run together.

Queue a follow-up or steer the current run

You can keep talking to an agent while it is working:

Queue a follow-up to save another request for later. Dexto starts it as a new run after the current run finishes. If you add several follow-ups, they run in the order you added them.
Steer the current run when you want the agent to adjust what it is doing now. Press Command+Enter on macOS or Control+Enter on Windows and Linux to steer instead of queueing.
